DoSomething

App

Common questions about how DoSomething works.

How does DoSomething decide what to suggest?

DoSomething combines your current location, the time of day, local weather conditions, and who you're with (solo, date, friends, or family) to build a pool of nearby places that actually fit the moment. It then scores and randomly picks from that pool — so you might get a different suggestion each time you tap, which is the point. The more you like and dislike suggestions, the better the app gets at matching your taste over time.

Do I need to create an account?

No. DoSomething works completely without an account. Your preferences (liked and disliked places, categories you enjoy) are stored locally on your device. Creating an account only adds the ability to sync your preferences across multiple devices.

What data does the app store about me?

Without an account, nothing leaves your device. The app stores your preferences in your browser's local storage — liked places, disliked places, places you've visited, and category preferences. With an account, this same preference data and your email address are synced to our servers so you can access them from other devices. We don't track your location history and your location is never stored on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Why does DoSomething ask for my location?

Location is the core of how the app works — it uses your current position to find nearby places via Google Places API, and your coordinates to fetch local weather from Open-Meteo. Location access is requested each time you tap "Do Something" and is never stored or used for any other purpose.

The suggestion seems wrong or the place was closed. What should I do?

Place data comes from Google Places, including hours and ratings. If a place is listed incorrectly, reporting it directly on Google Maps helps the most — that's the source we pull from. For other issues with how DoSomething works, use the contact form below and select "Bug Report."

How do I delete my account?

We don't yet have an in-app account deletion flow. To delete your account and all associated data, send an email to contact@nicomedialabs.com with the subject "Account Deletion Request" and we'll take care of it within 30 days.

How do I report a bug?

Use the contact form below and select "Bug Report" from the subject dropdown. Please include as much detail as possible: what you tapped, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. A brief description of your device and browser (or phone model) is helpful too.
